“Baltic Complex” is a 30 day immersion into the Baltic states while meticulously retracing the historic route from Estonia, Latvia and onto Lithuania, capturing the spirit of a journey in a territory that once saw the longest human chain ever recorded in mankind’s history. Each image delves into the contemporary realities of the Baltic nations by documenting the present-day social, cultural, and political milieu, offering a poignant reflection on how these countries have evolved since their independence from the Soviet Union and how their shared history still shapes their collective aspirations. It also invites its viewers to explore the dynamic interplay between memory and progress in the heart of the Baltics.
Baltic Complex
Stone figures depicting armed workers and revolutionary fighters, originally part of a monument to the attempted Communist coup in Estonia on Dec. 1, 1924. The figures were installed in 1925 and removed in February 1993. Located in the backyard of the Museum of Estonian History at Maarjamäe Castle in Tallin, Estonia.
